NC State Fair Youth Meat Goat, Market Sheep, and Market Swine Nomination and Validation Procedures
The procedure for nominating and validating junior meat goats, market sheep, and market swine is slightly different than 2023. ***Nominations will be made through ShoWorks, REMEMBER YOUR LOG-IN INFORMATION, YOU WILL USE IT AGAIN TO LOG IN TO COMPLETE YOUR OFFICIAL FAIR ENTRY.
There are four main steps:
- May 15 – June 15 request your nomination kit
- June 20 – July 1 Pickup your DNA kit at pre-set locations
- May 25th- Kinston, Lenoir County Livestock Arena (order must be placed by May 21st) 3-6 p.m.
- June 20th- Waynesville, Mountain Research Station 4-7 p.m.
- June 21st– Edgecombe Community College – time TBD
- June 22nd– Showdown in the Foothills, Lenoir, Caldwell County Fairgrounds 9 a.m. -12 p.m.
- June 24th- Rockingham, Richmond County Extension Office 4-7 p.m.
- June 25th- Kenansville, Duplin County Extension 0ffice 4-7 p.m.
- June 28th– Goat and Sheep Roundup- Winston Salem, Carolina Classic Fairgrounds 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- June 15 – July 15 – Nominate animals at Welcome to ShoWorks! (fairwire.com) – and turn in DNA to a N.C. Cooperative Extension Agent or County Center by July 15
- Aug 15 – Sept 15 – enter your animals in the fair
You may view the 2023 NC State Fair rule book. We do not anticipate any major changes to this, but the 2024 version will supersede any information listed in the 2023 version. This is for reference only.
